COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN GHANA
The Colleges have being listed according to their respective regions they are found. Moreover, the type of sexes in each respective Colleges has being specified.


1.       GREATER ACCRA REGION

COLLEGE OF EDUCATIONS IN GHANA

INTRODUCTION
Teacher Training College (TTC) now changed to College of Education. The change has been effected due to the introduction of Diploma in Basic Education in 2004. Initially the College awards Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ for three years post secondary education. The introduction of the Diploma in Basic Education has increase the number of courses thought in the institution as well as specialization of courses with respect to the Diploma standard.
  The college has played major role in training and disciplining of teachers all across the country. It has also played a major role in Ghana’s development by providing manpower base of the educational system and other organizations. Each of the various College of Education specializes in particular programme(s). The area of specialization includes;
§    General Science,
§  Arts/Vocational Skills,
§  French and
§  Other combinations.

 The training takes three years and beneficiaries are bonded to serve the Ghana Government for five (5) years. In 2004/05, about 18,000 people applied for admission, out of which about 15,000 qualified but only 9,000 were admitted throughout the country’s College of Education. There are 38 Colleges of Educations all over the country. These colleges are spread from region to region. At least every region can boast of two to three Colleges of Educations.
